Karuna - The Shadow Self

When the continuous flow of light is blocked - a shadow is cast.

The shadow self is that part of ourselves that stays in the dark. Despised, forgotten and last but not least, suppressed. The shadow self represents that part or parts of ourselves that we do and cannot accept. Things about ourselves that seem so horrible and awful that we have completely denied them. So now we don't even remember any longer what it was that we have suppressed, denied and forgotten. It is removed from our conscious mind. But it is still there. It is now in our subconscious mind. And from there it still haunts us.
the shadow self, the beast, ego At some level we can still feel its presence. And so we project all those aspects about ourselves that we so deeply hate, deny and suppress onto our fellow humans. Now we do not longer feel it in ourselves, but we notice how somebody "out there" angers us by their behaviour or by what they do or say. Then we point our fingers and say: "Is it not awful how so-and-so behaves?"
What we forget by doing that, is that three fingers are pointing back onto us! Every person we encounter is a mirror for us. What we see in so-and-so is an aspect of ourselves. One of those aspects that we have denied and suppressed.

When we come to accept that we do indeed create our own reality and that by claiming our personal power we also have to take full responsibility for our own feelings, emotions, actions and reactions, the healing of the shadow self begins. Blockages are being removed and the light flodds our whole being. By offering forgiveness to all situations and people we are forgiving ourselves and healing takes place.

Halu is a wonderful help in the healing of our shadow self. Growing in self acceptance and self love. For if there is no love for Self, how can there be love for others.
